Collins, Catherine G. (nee Gens)

Age 87 years, at the Congregational Home in Brookfield, on Saturday, February 24, 2001. She was born in Minneapolis, MN, October 26, 1913, the daughter of Louis Gens (Jenss) and Eva Lang of Milwaukee. Preceded in death by her husband Joseph Thomas, in 1969, in Mequon, WI, whom she married in 1937 at Wellesley College Chapel, MA.

A graduate of Washington High School in 1931, Milwaukee Downer College, BA, Chemistry and Physics, Magna Cum Laude in 1935, and Wellesley College (MA in Chemistry) in 1937. Taught Chemistry at Wellesley, Milwaukee Downer Seminary, and Juneau and Custer High Schools in Milwaukee.

Survived by John (Mary) Collins, Fort Walton Beach, FL, J. Thomas (Judy) Collins, Wauwatosa, Anne Collins (John) King, Whiting, ME, Roberta Collins (James) Harper, Hudson, WI. Also grandchildren Catherine Collins (John) Mulcahy, Dallas, TX; Lisa Collins (Chase) Laurendine, Huntsville, AL; David Collins, Milwaukee; Christine Collins (Horacio) Sobol, Alexandria, VA; John Patrick (Shawn) King, Wilmington, NC; Deborah King (Paul Raines), Boston, MA; Kelly Collins Jacques, Bozeman, MT; Michael Collins Harper, Hudson, WI; and greatgrandchildren Chase and Riley Laurendine and Mary Elizabeth Mulcahy.

Mequon resident for 40 years, later lived in Wauwatosa and the Congregational Home as she struggled with Alzheimer's Disease. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Congregational Home or Alzheimer's Association appreciated. Memorial service at the Congregational Home Chapel, 3150 N. Lilly Rd, Brookfield, WI, 2:30 PM on Tuesday, February 27. Private interment at Graceland Cemetery. The family thanks the staff at the Congregational Home for their loving care.
