Age 86, of Brookfield, WI found eternal peace August 20, 2012.  Gene was preceded in death by first wife Betty Jane (nee Graf) and son Cary Carter.  Loving husband of Patricia (nee Elliott-Mueller).  Dear brother of Lucille Toepfer.  Beloved father of Dean (Linda), Debora (Jack) Thomas, Scott, Claudia Stephan, Laurie Weber, Lynne (Daniel) Fitzpatrick and David (Elke) Mueller.  Further survived by nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, other relatives, and dear friends.  

Gene served proudly with the 82nd Airborne Division during WWII.  He was a UW-Madison graduate and a long time teacher and coach for Custer High School.  

Visitation 9am Friday, August 24, at St. JOHN VIANNEY PARISH (1755 N. CALHOUN RD., BROOKFIELD, WI) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am.  Interment Wisonsin Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association appreciated.
