I had Frau Jungton for one year, but Frau Mervash was my German teacher as a Sophomore and a Junior. She had a sneeze that would rattle the windows of the whole school! Ruhe in Frieden.
Oddly, Frau Mervash was old enough that my parents had her as a teacher at Milwaukee's Rufus King High School in the 1940s. During the war years German was not taught so Ms. Mervash reverted to teaching Spanish.
I also recall that during her tenure as my German teacher, Ms. Mervash was lampooned by Craig Ede, editor of Custer's unofficial underground newspaper, the Harlequin. Mr. Ede created quite a flap when he reported that Ms. Mervash was caught in the restroom smoking "the killer weed."
