Gail Marie Champion

September 21, 1954 – October 28, 2023

Gail Champion (nee Herro) found peace at the age of 69.  She leaves behind her loving husband of 46 years, Bruce; her sister, Shelley Saxe; sister-in-law, Dawn Caballero; and brother-in-law, Michael Champion.  She is further survived by nephews, Christian (Jenn Pun) Caballero, Darrell (Nikki) Saxe, Ryan (Michelle) Saxe, Cory Champion and nieces, Hannah Champion and Juliet Champion.

Gail was born in Milwaukee and graduated from Cardinal Stritch College in 1976.  She taught Family and Consumer Education for 43 years:  23 years at New Berlin West High School and 20 years at Franklin High School.  She coached Girls’ volleyball, basketball and track at New Berlin West and Boys’ tennis at Franklin.  She was inducted into both schools’ respective Athletic Halls of Fame.

Gail is remembered fondly by many former students whom she taught and coached.  Over the years, they have shared how much she cared about them, inspired them, and affected their lives.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 from 2:00 PM until 4:45 PM at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive in Brookfield, Wisconsin with a Funeral Service at 5:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Milwaukee Rescue Mission and the Salvation Army.
