"The marriage of Jeanette Shapiro, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis B. Shapiro, 3452 N. 45th street, is announced by her parents.  The groom, Alex R. Atlas, is the son of Mrs. Nathan Atlas of 2057 N. 16th street. The couple was quietly married at the bride's home on September 1. Mrs. Atlas is a 1942 graduate of Marquette University and her husband a 1939 graduate of (Milwaukee)State Teachers College. He is a member of the Kappa Tau Alpha fraternity and is a past president of the Interfraternity Council at the college. Mr. Atlas has been teaching Physical Education and Social Science in Des Moines, Iowa for the past three years and was the former swimming instructor at the Jewish Center of Milwaukee and Camp Sidney Cohen. He is awaiting his call as aviation cadet in the army."

Passed away Thurs. July 10, 2003 at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Jean (nee Shapiro). Loving father of the late Lawrence (Susan) Atlas. Cherished grandfather of Genevieve (Daniel) Grove and Jordan (fiancee Amanda Egholm) Atlas. Dear brother of Sid (Lucille) Atlas, Lillian Koshakow and Anne Atlas. Further survived by many loving and devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and countless caring friends and chaverim.

Services were held on Fri., July 11 with burial at Mound Zion Cemetery. A prayer service will be held Sunday at 4:15 PM in the chapel of the Jewish Home and Care Center. Memorial contributions can be made to the Jewish Home and Care Center or the charity of your choice. The family wishes to express its profound gratitude to the caregivers, administration and the entire staff at the Jewish Home and Care Center, Chai Point and Vitas Hospice for their exceptionally kind, compassionate and devoted care.
