I was so blessed to have Mr. Puente as a homeroom teacher and a science teacher. He always teased me about my last name, and called me Farmer (Bauer in German) or Bow-Wow after he heard a few of the boys say that.  So i called him Bridge (Puente in Spanish).  Because of his encouragement, i developed a love for horticulture.

I had Mr Puente for first period biology, he often ate tamilies during class because he said he'd skip breakfast when he came to school. I remember that he lived in the apartments on Villard and Sherman Blvd. He was a fun guy who always made us laugh. I think I can say he was my favorite teacher at Custer, and was sorry to hear of his passing.

My favorite teacher, always yelled at me for going the wrong way in the hall...He gave me an A, even though I couldn't cut that mouse. Lol.

He made Biology fun. Funniest moment was when he tossed an onion in fun and yelled "Heads, up, Duane." I didn't look up fast enough and got hit. We were both embarrassed! Great teacher, nice man.

He was one of the best teachers there and certainly made learning fun and memorable. Miss him and his sense of humor and his kind spirit. And dang - that "one way" hallway - always a obstacle to overcome.
