James Michael Lauber was Born to Eternal Life on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at the age of 66 years. James was born on November 21, 1954, the third child of Philip and Edith (nee Meyer) Lauber.

James had limited vision that was not correctable  thru surgery or glasses. This meant he could not enjoy all the things young boys got into. At an early age he became fascinated with cars, a passion that remained always a part of his life. Though he  was unable to drive, he enjoyed playing with toy cars and as he grew he assembled a large collection of scale model cars. Despite his eyesight problems he would thoroughly examine every model, checking for imperfections before he bought them.

He was a graduate of Custer High School. He enjoyed going to car shows and took many pictures at the annual antiques car show held at Rank and Son Buick. Over the years he developed a love for Chevrolet and despite not being able to drive, he partially achieved that goal by purchasing with a friend a blue (his favorite color) 1964 Chevy two door Impala hardtop. Together they worked on that car and attended a number of car shows. In addition to cars he enjoyed fishing and he purchased a boat and trailer which he and friends would use.

His favorite music  was by Elvis and he had a collection of videos of old television shows as well. For many years he enjoyed riding his bicycle all over, however after a bad tumble he relied on city busses traveling all over the city to hobby and book shops looking to add things to his collection. He achieved another goal, purchasing a small home.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, an aunt and uncle, a cousin and his four legged best friend Jasper. He is survived by his brothers John (Joe Boehnlein) Lauber, Mark (Dawn) Lauber, David Sr. (Donna) Lauber and his sister Judith (Gerald) Hassmann, an uncle Ken (Beverly) Lauber, nephews, a niece, great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew, cousins and his long time friend Alfred Ammermann.

A family gatherng was held and he was laid to rest alongside his parents at Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin. Memorials to the Diabetes Association or the Heart Association appreciated.
