Comments:

Caught the travel bug as early as my senior year of high school when I went with older college friends to The Bahamas during some of the coldest midwestern weeks of the year (bypassing the senior trip to NYC). I knew, then, that traveling plus enjoying warm sunny climates were priorities for me. Didn't matter where I resided...that was just a place to keep "my stuff" whenever I wandered the world.

Enjoyed many college classes on and off in between. Decided to try barbering as a way to support myself until I figured out "what to really do with my life". It has served me well. It provided an opportunity for me to really explore the wonderful eccentricities of the male mind.

I moved to San Diego, CA in summer of 1986. The winter of 1981-82's (-83 degree) wind chill did me in.

In 1989, I returned to school and, eventually, completed a Radio and Television degree at the local city college. Luckily, met my husband, Joe, during this time as he has been employed there since 1987.

I worked as an "Air Personality" (translates to "DJ") for several San Diego radio stations between 1993 and 1996 and we also married on St. Patrick's Day in 1996 (Yeah, that's the Irish in me).

Joe still works at the San Diego City College mainstream Jazz radio station where I took classes. In fact, you can hear him online at

www.Jazz88.org/listen

He is on air weekdays during San Diego morning drive from 6:00am-9:00am PDT and also does a special "Portrait in Jazz" program weekdays from noon-1:00pm PDT.

Deregulation of radio stations in the early 1990's made it more and more difficult to remain in the business without having to move around the country every couple of years. Now, how can one move away after finding the perfect place to live?

So, I'm back to enjoying the quirky eccentricities of the male mind and have been amping up the travel destintions, many times, as an adventure to blend with my family's genealogy research...and loving every second of it.

Who knew I had to travel 2,300 miles to marry a German?

School Story:

Post-school story, summer of 1972:
After receiving my official 18yrs old State ID in May of 1972 (same year that the offical drinking age law, from 21 to 18yrs, went into effect), "what a shock" to see Mr Moertl, my junior year History teacher, sitting at a table at "Beneath the Street" nightclub. Wow! Teachers actually had a life outside of the school?

Although I had never met Mrs Kersey, I know her value as a Speech Pathologist.  Her devotion to her speech therapy for her students changed their lives.  I know this because it changed mine.  I was offered help while a 4th grader.  I am forever grateful to these angels of mercy.  On behalf of our classmates, thank you, Mrs Kersey.
